New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said India shares Japan’s vision for a free, open and rules-based Indo-Pacific and stressed that the two countries need to expand the scope of bilateral cooperation. Must continue

Singh told this to Japan’s Deputy Defense Minister for International Affairs Oka Masami during a meeting. Masami is currently on a visit to India primarily to participate in the 7th Defense Policy Dialogue.

During the meeting, Oka briefed Singh about the discussions held during the talks, which he co-chaired with Defense Secretary Giridhar Armane on Thursday.

According to the Defense Ministry, the visiting dignitary reiterated Japan’s keenness to enhance bilateral defense cooperation, including cooperation in defense equipment and technology.

Rajnath Singh conveyed that India shares Japan’s vision for a free, open, secure and rules-based Indo-Pacific and emphasized that the two countries should continue to expand the scope of their bilateral cooperation.

The ministry said Oka was accompanied by Japan’s Ambassador to India Suzuki Hiroshi, who thanked Singh for the inspiration provided by his “strong and positive” leadership towards strengthening bilateral defense ties.

Japan and India are partners in peace, having a common interest and complementary responsibility in promoting the security, stability and prosperity of Asia, as well as promoting international peace and common development.
