IndiGo aircraft from Amritsar blocks runway at Delhi airport for 15 minutes | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: An IndiGo aircraft from Amritsar missed the exit taxiway after landing at the Delhi airport on Sunday morning, blocking one of the runways for a little over 15 minutes and impacting flight operations, according to sources.
The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 2221, landed on runway 28/10 at around 8.30 am but could not exit to the designated taxiway. Due to low visibility, the aircraft was unable to move to the taxiway as instructed by the air traffic controller.A towing tractor was then used to tow the aircraft to a parking bay, allowing normal operations to resume on the runway.
In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson attributed the incident to low visibility and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to passengers.
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the country’s largest airport, handles around 1,400 flights daily with its four operational runways.
