Along with this, the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has started the construction work of mini indoor stadium near Amitabh Bachchan Sports Complex at a cost of Rs 30 crore.
This follows the promise of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who had announced the mini stadium as a gift to the city in October 2022 during the golden jubilee celebrations of the Amitabh Bachchan Sports Complex.
Divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant said, “The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) has already made land available for the mini stadium. The construction has started and it will be built over an area of ​​3,500 square metres.
A mini stadium has already been completed in Jasra block of Prayagraj with focus on rural children and youth.
District Youth Welfare Officer Shailesh Upadhyay said it has been constructed at a cost of over Rs 4.93 crore and will be inaugurated in July.
This rural mini stadium has facilities for practicing both indoor and outdoor sports.
It will also provide training for a dozen sports like badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, athletics and wrestling.
The stadium has been constructed by the Uttar Pradesh State Construction and Infrastructure Development Corporation (UPSIDC).
Apart from this, mini stadiums have also been constructed in four more blocks of the district, Shankargarh, Handia, Koraon and Chaka.
Upadhyay said that a large number of players have started practicing there.
In Prayagraj, with the cooperation of MNREGA, District Panchayati Raj and Sports Department, the process of making open air gyms in every village has also started.
According to Pant, the land survey work for this exercise has already been completed by the administration.
