In good news for iPhone users, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will allow iOS users to send photos and videos as documents to preserve their original quality. The feature is already available on Android devices but now it is coming iOS as well.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.23.1.74 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that this feature is finally available to some users on the iOS app,” WABetaInfo reported.
The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo revealed that the Meta-owned app has released a. new feature to allow users to choose photos and videos from their gallery. By sending a photo or video as a document, users can finally preserve their original quality by sending it without compression or quality loss.
In addition, the instant messaging app also said that that it is possible to share documents up to 2GB in size. The report suggested that this feature represents a significant improvement for media sharing, particularly for iOS users who previously faced challenges when sharing photos or videos as documents.
“Thanks to the most recent updates of the app, WhatsApp users on iOS finally have a dedicated option to select photos and videos directly from their gallery and send them as documents,” WABetaInfo said.
This is especially helpful for photographers, videographers, and anyone who values the quality of their images and videos. The feature to send photos and videos as documents to preserve their original quality is available to a limited number of users who install the latest versions of WhatsApp for iOS, and it’s rolling out to more people over the coming weeks.
WhatsApp is also releasing a new feature, which will allow users to archive community group chats. There is a new action called “archive chat” within the community group chat menu. With this option, users have control over their community group chats since it’s now possible to archive them.
