‘It is disheartening’, says Alia Bhatt as two accused flee without punishment in a viral dog assault case | – Times of India

Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to condemn an incident of cruelty towards a pet dog which happened in Thane city. In case you missed it, a video circulating on social media last week depicted two veterinary clinic staff brutally beating a chow-chow pet dog in Thane.
The incident was captured by a CCTV camera placed inside Vetic Pet Clinic at Ghodbunder Road in Manpada, Thane.Following the circulation of the distressing video, netizens called for stringent action against the accused.
Now, the ‘Raazi’ actress reshared the news on her Instagram story and wrote, “This is very disheartening.”

According to reports, the police registered a non-cognisable offence against the duo, Mayur Michael Jadhav, 19, and Prashant Gaikwad, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
However, the netizens insisted on more severe punishment. Both staffers were apprehended on Wednesday (February 14). However, the post that Alia shared suggested that both culprits managed to escape.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is gearing up for the launch of her web series ‘Poacher’. It stars Roshan Mathews, Nimisha Sajayan, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles. The series is helmed by director Richie Mehta.
