Jagadish Shettar can get MLC ticket in Karnataka. Hubli News – Times of India

Hubli: Congress likely to field former chief minister Jagadish ShettarRecently, after losing in the assembly elections for the three vacant seats of the Legislative Council, he was running angry.
Nominations for the June 30 election opened on Tuesday (June 13). The three vacancies were caused by the resignations of the then BJP members Baburao Chinchansur, R Shankar and Laxman Savadi.
Lingayat Shettar quit the BJP after the saffron party denied him a ticket to contest, but lost the Hubli Dharwad Central seat on a Congress ticket. Since then, the Congress has been mulling over how to rehabilitate the former CM, especially since the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner.
The state Congress unit has set itself a target of winning at least 20 Lok Sabha seats.
A senior Congress functionary said, “The party wants to send a message to the Lingayat community and also use their experience.”
It is also said that the Congress decided to field Shettar for the council elections after it was learned that the Sangh Parivar and the BJP were trying to woo him back to the saffron party’s side.
Hubballi-Dharwad Metropolitan District Congress president Altaf Halloor said he hoped the party would give important responsibilities to Shettar after he was elected as an MLC.
