The campaign for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election is in its last phase. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state is counting its achievements. The government feels that if people are clapping on the matter of sending the opponents to jail, then definitely the voters will be affected.
At the same time, the opposition parties Congress, Akali Dal and BJP are counting the flaws. They feel that voters will vote for them on the allegation of failure in handling law and order and inability to run the government.

Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat is dominated by Dalit voters. There are more than 16 lakh 21 thousand voters in 9 assembly seats under Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat. Of these, 42% are from the Dalit community, who come from the Adi Dharmi community, including Ravidasia and Ramdasia. For this reason, 4 out of 9 seats in the assembly are reserved here.
Most of the Dalit voters are from Ravidasia community. In the 4 seats of the Vidhansabha which are reserved, the voter of this society only decides the victory or defeat. Dera Sachkhand Ballan, the biggest religious place of Ravidasia community is in Jalandhar itself.

In view of the electoral impact of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, before the 2022 assembly elections, Charanjit Channi had given a check of 25 crores as CM in the Congress government. However, after coming to power, the Aam Aadmi Party gave this check of 25 crores afresh.

This by-election of Jalandhar is also interesting from the point of view of the candidates. Taking a lesson from that mistake, the Aam Aadmi Party, which faced defeat by giving ticket to a sarpanch in Sangrur, did not trust any of its leaders or volunteers here. Former Congress MLA Sushil Rinku, who joined the party just before the elections, was given the ticket.
BJP also did not consider local leaders worthy of tickets. He brought former Akali MLA Inder Iqbal Atwal into the party and made him a candidate. Inder is the son of former deputy speaker of Lok Sabha and Charanjit Atwal, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on an Akali Dal ticket from Jalandhar seat.

The Congress fielded Karmjeet Kaur, wife of late MP Santokh Singh Choudhary, as its candidate from here. Chowdhary had died of a heart attack during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. This incident is also the reason for the by-election on this seat 11 months before the Lok Sabha elections.
Akali Dal has also given ticket to Dr. Sukhwinder Sukhi, MLA of Banga seat of Nawanshahar district, ignoring the local leaders. BSP is also a partner of alliance with Akali Dal.

Will the Sangrur-like Moosewala factor work?
Its scope is less. Sangrur Lok Sabha seat was Jat dominant. Musewala’s murder also took place just before the elections, due to which there was resentment among the people towards AAP. AAP’s entire focus is on the functioning of its government in the state. Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann are telling the achievements to the people. In which it is being claimed to fulfill the promise of action and free electricity on corruption. AAP claims that electricity bills of 61 lakh houses out of 75 lakh in the state have become zero.
AAP has linked the action on corruption to Congress leaders. About 29 thousand government jobs are being claimed. Kejriwal is also saying that he has a government in the state. If the MP is also ours, the work will be done easily.
challenge: AAP had lost the Sangrur Lok Sabha bypoll which fell vacant after Bhagwant Mann became the CM. This time in front of AAP is the question of saving reputation. Along with this, women are also unhappy due to non-fulfillment of the guarantee of 1-1 thousand per month. Their displeasure may also have to be faced.
The entire focus of the Congress is to oppose the AAP government. The Congress is alleging that law and order has deteriorated in the state. She is making claims of appointing outsiders except Punjabis in the government.

The Congress is trying to show unity in the Jalandhar elections, but the differences are clearly visible from the different campaigns of Sidhu and other groups.
The main issue of Akali Dal is opposition to the government. However, he is also running a sectarian agenda, claiming to be a regional party and a pro-Sikh party. The Akali Dal is also raising the issue of corruption within the government and appointment of outsiders.
