TIRUPUR: Jallikattu organizers have decided to postpone an event to be held here Alagumalai On 29 January.
The decision comes in the wake of a petition in the Madras High Court for not allowing Jallikattu in Alagumalai. The petitioner had said that when the state government issued an order in 2017 specifying the names of villages where Jallikattu could be held, Alagumalai did not figure in the list.
After this the district administration asked the organizers to postpone the programme.
In this backdrop, the organizers held a meeting on Saturday and decided to postpone the event till February 19.
The organizers said that on the instructions of the district administration, the venue of the program would also be changed.
