The Jharkhand unit of the BJP on Monday launched its state-wide ‘Aakrosh’ rally against the Hemant Soren-led UPA government in the state from Ranchi. Hundreds of BJP workers gathered at Morabadi Maidan in the city and later marched towards the district collectorate raising slogans of “Hemant hatao, Jharkhand bachao”.

The movement was led by BJP state president Deepak Prakash. He was accompanied by Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, MLA CP Singh, Rajya Sabha member Aditya Sahu, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal and Ranchi Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya. Addressing party workers, Prakash alleged that the Hemant Soren-led ruling coalition- JMM, Congress and RJD was a team of ‘Ali Baba Chalis Chor’. Corruption is at its peak under Soren’s rule. Other mines and minerals including sand, stone, coal and iron are being looted.

He said that the present government is anti-women, anti-tribal and anti-Dalit. Crime against women has increased manifold in the state in the last 34 months. Unemployment is at its peak. The BJP’s ‘Aakrosh’ rally, which began on Monday, will continue till November 25. BJP’s state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said that such demonstrations will be held at all the 24 district headquarters of the state till November 25 to make people aware of corruption and anti-people policies of the government.

It may be noted that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for more than nine and a half hours on November 17 in connection with the investigation into the alleged illegal mining case. On the other hand, JMM general secretary and party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya termed the BJP rally as a “flop show”. He said that the rally did not get public support. The rally started from Morabadi Maidan, but by the time it reached the district collectorate, the crowd had reduced to less than half. It was a desperation rally of the BJP.

On the other hand, the Jharkhand Congress termed the BJP’s protest rally as a ‘drama’. Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha said that the BJP is fighting for its existence in Jharkhand. They are doing street drama to show their presence. BJP has no issue left in Jharkhand.
