Jharkhand Murder: Businessman shot dead, all three accused away from police’s grip

A 52-year-old businessman was shot dead by three assailants in the industrial town of Adityapur in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district. A police officer gave this information on Thursday. Kanhaiya Singh, brother-in-law of former MLA Arvind Kumar Singh, was about to enter his flat on the third floor of a residential building at around 9.30 on Wednesday when he was shot dead, he said. Neighbors came out on hearing the gunshots and took Singh to Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur, but doctors there declared him brought dead.

According to Adityapur police station in-charge officer Rajan Kumar, the victim’s driver told the police that he had seen three people, all with their faces covered. They were running away from the building when he was parking Singh’s car below. The officer also said that the killers have been identified. We are probing the matter from every possible angle. He said that the killers would be caught soon.

Meanwhile, supporters of Arvind Kumar Singh, three-time MLA from Ichagarh constituency in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, and other local political leaders, across party lines, took to the streets during the day demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. Some of the protesters said that around ten incidents of murder have taken place in Adityapur in the last three months, creating a sense of fear and insecurity among the common people.
