Jio: Reliance Jio mobile subscribers grew in February, Airtel second: TRAI – Times of India

Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel added 19.8 lakh mobile subscribers month-on-month in February, while vodafone idea Lost 20 lakh customers. These figures are as per the data released by the department Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Try).
In percentage terms, Airtel registered a growth of 0.27% in February, followed by Live at 0.24%. Vodafone Idea reported a decline of 0.83% subscribers.
Reliance Jio added maximum customers
India’s biggest telecom player Jio added nearly one million customers – the most among all three telcos. Jio’s wireless subscriber base reached 427.1 million in February.
Airtel gained 9.82 lakh mobile users during February and had a customer base of 36.98 crore at the end of the month.
TRAI report states that Vodafone Idea lost 2 million wireless subscribers as its subscriber base dropped to 23.79 crore.

Decline in total mobile subscribers
As per the report, total wireless subscribers declined from 114.301 crore at the end of January 2023 to 114.196 crore at the end of February, registering a monthly decline rate of 0.09%.
Also, wireless subscriptions in urban areas declined from 627 million at the end of January 2023 to 626 million at the end of February 23. When it comes to rural areas, wireless subscriptions declined from 51.589 million to 51.560 crore during the same period.
This is in line with monthly decline rates of urban and rural wireless subscriptions of 0.12% and 0.06%, respectively.

Jio leads in market share
Jio has the highest market share of 37.41%, followed by Airtel with 32.39% and Vodafone Idea with 20.84%.
TRAI in its report said that as of February 28, private access service providers had 90.63% market share of wireless subscribers, while BSNL and MTNL, the two PSU access service providers, had only 9.37% market share.
The report also mentioned that the total broadband subscribers increased from 83.918 crore at the end of January to 83.933 crore at the end of February 23.
