Lola Glaudini recounted a story from the Blow movie set about how Johnny Depp supposedly scolded her for laughing during a take.
Actress Lola Glaudini claimed Johnny Depp verbally abused her at the filming location of the 2001 movie Blow. Recently, a podcast episode from earlier this year called Powerful Truth Angels has resurfaced. In it, Glaudini recounts a story from the movie set about how Depp supposedly scolded her for laughing during a take.
“[Depp] says his monologue. I hear the cue, and I go haha, I do a big laugh or whatever,” Glaudini remarked, adding that she had executed the scene in this manner on a few additional takes.
She went on to allege that following the scene, Depp approached her, poked his finger in her face, asked her who she thought she was, and warned her not to talk when he was delivering lines.
Until then, Glaudini said, she had only worked on independent films. This was her first Hollywood picture. She was thrilled to work with the star who had inspired her, but he “reamed” her in the face.
“The only thing going through my head was, ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.’”
Later that day, when Depp encountered Glaudini on set, he allegedly offered her “a non-apology apology.”
After Depp allegedly raged at her, Glaudini claimed she spoke with her father, who advised her that she now had two options. She could opt not to be spoken to in that manner or she can refuse to ever allow him to see her sweat. Glaudini said she picked the latter choice when Depp allegedly approached her and told her that previously he was really in his head and keeping in his role and that he was performing a Boston accent, which was messing with him.
“So I’m a little tense and stuff. So I just wanted to make sure we’re cool and everything?”, he reportedly added.
She went on to say that she looked up to him and said, “I don’t know what you are talking about. Of course, what are you talking about? Totally cool.”
She said that she was following her dad’s advice of not letting them “see you sweat.”
She also claimed that when she was allegedly berated by Depp, director Ted Demme did not approach her to offer an apology and that after they wrapped, she was treated like a “pariah.”
“No one wanted to talk to me, because I am the bitch who he railed at.”
“Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time,” a Depp spokesperson told Variety when asked about the story of Glaudini.
