New Delhi/Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has started the countdown. Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2023 is scheduled to be held in Lucknow from February 10 to 12 with an event in Delhi.
He called upon the global and domestic industries to take advantage of the vast opportunities offered by UP and participate in the project of making “New India” a prosperous and powerful country.
Addressing investors from across the world, the CM invited them to join the “New Uttar Pradesh of New India” towards growth and development by participating in GIS. The UP government has set a target of getting an investment of Rs 10 lakh crore through this event, in which more than 300 investors from India and abroad are expected to participate.
The CM said that so far 21 countries have expressed interest in participating in the programme, while Netherlands, Denmark, Singapore, United Kingdom and Mauritius have agreed to be the partner countries for the programme. To reach out to the investors directly, the state government will hold roadshows in 18 countries and seven cities across India.
During the event, the CM also released a booklet detailing UP’s regional policies and investment prospects.
Online Incentive Management Portal and Customer Relationship Management Portal named ‘Nivesh Sarathi’ were also formally launched by the Chief Minister.
State on the cusp of progressive journey of transformation: Chief Minister
Uttar Pradesh is currently on the cusp of a progressive transformational journey. According to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the vision of self-reliant India is the main pillar of this rejuvenation. Following the PM’s plan to take India’s economy to USD 5 trillion, we have set a target of USD 1 trillion economy in the coming five years.
GIS, Yogi Adityanath said, would provide a platform to the global industrial world to participate in the economic development of the state and in turn benefit from it. He said policy makers, corporate leaders, business delegations, academicians, think tanks and intellectuals would participate in the three-day event. He said that they would collectively brainstorm on business prospects in UP and partnership opportunities with the state.
Explaining why UP had turned into an investment-friendly hub, the CM said the state government was offering policy support and top-class infrastructure along with better law and order situation. “For proactive investor connect and handholding, our government has developed a new online system called ‘Nivesh Sarathi’ for signing MoUs and monitoring their implementation. In addition, the government has launched almost Has launched 25 policies, data centres, defense and aerospace, electric vehicles, warehousing and logistics, tourism, textiles, MSMEs etc,” he said.
He said that UP is strategically located near Delhi and has the largest population in the country. “With a population of 24 crores, UP has India’s largest labor force and consumer market. Infrastructure is being developed rapidly to ensure seamless connectivity through air, water, road and rail, which is a global and further enhance access to domestic markets. ” They said.
Discussing the economic aspects of the state, the CM said that UP is one of the largest economies of India and contributes around 8% to the national GDP.
The state’s new industrial policy, he explained, offers an alternative model that encourages production, employment and exports. “We are also encouraging new areas including green hydrogen. Our policies encourage investment in the state to set up industry specific centers of excellence, research and development and testing facilities. The state government launched the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission And it is one of the leading states in implementing the PM Gati Shakti National Masterplan,” he said.
He further said that UP has India’s largest youth population for which 72 universities and 169 industrial training institutes are running across the state. The state also provides opportunities for skill development institutes and exchange programmes.
The CM said that the major development in the state includes the construction of a defense corridor. The corridor has six nodes, at Agra, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi and Chitrakoot, of which the Aligarh node has already been inaugurated by the Prime Minister and land allotment is in progress in other nodes.
He said major allocations on the corridor include BrahMos in Lucknow and Bharat Dynamics in Jhansi. State’s first Medical Device Park has been inaugurated near Yamuna Expressway. Similarly, Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Handicraft Park and Logistics Hub are being developed in the Yamuna Expressway area. Other projects being developed include IIT GNL in Greater Noida, Mega Food Park in Bareilly, Trans Ganga City in Unnao, Plastic Park in Gorakhpur, Garment Park in Gorakhpur and several flatted factory complexes.
