“Mann Ki Baat”: Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Monday urged him to visit Jantar Mantar and listen to the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of women wrestlers who are protesting against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh. In a tweet, Sibal said such a move would show that the Prime Minister is ready to understand their pain.

Senior advocate Sibal has represented wrestlers in the Supreme Court. His remarks came a day after the 100th episode of Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” radio program was broadcast.

“Congratulations Modi ji: on your 100th ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Modi ji, if you have time, please visit Jantar Mantar and listen to the protesting women wrestlers’ ‘Mann Ki Baat’,” Sibal said in a tweet.

“It will show that our Prime Minister is ready to understand their pain!” Sibal said.

FIR lodged against WFI chief

The Delhi Police on Friday registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment leveled against a BJP MP by seven women wrestlers.

An apex court bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha was told by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Delhi Police, that the case would be registered on Friday.

While the first FIR related to the allegations of a minor wrestler and was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the second related to outraging the modesty of women.
Several international wrestlers, who have brought laurels to the country, are protesting at Jantar Mantar, demanding that the government make public the findings of an inspection panel probing sexual harassment allegations against Singh.

The wrestlers have insisted that they will not leave the protest site until Singh is arrested. They resumed their sit-in last week, demanding that the findings of the panel probing the allegations be made public.
