Hindi films focus more on trying to be multiple things at once. He further added that if Bollywood had made ‘a film like this’KGF 2′, it would have been banned immediately.

‘KGF 2’ directed by Prashanth Neel not only broke box office records but the action entertainer managed to garner over Rs 400 crore from the Hindi belt alone. It also earned positive reviews from almost everywhere.

Karan said that when he reviewed ‘KGF’ he felt that if such a film was made in Bollywood, the producers would have been killed. Surprisingly, everyone was telling the gangster’s saga for celebrations, parties etc. However, the ace filmmaker also said that he loved it with all his heart. But at the same time he wondered what would have happened if we had made it!

He thinks this trend is working both ways because he thinks Bollywood movies are trying to be like someone else and they are all over the place in the end. Karan claims that Hindi filmmakers are trying to live a dual existence and this needs to stop.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar’s next production venture is ‘Jugjug Jio’. Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the lead role. The film will hit the theaters on June 24. He is also returning as a director with Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in lead roles. The film will release on February 10 next year.
