Karishma Tanna Recently talked about how she fell into depression after failing to find work for almost a year after her small role Rajkumar Hirani‘S Sanju, In a new interview, Karisma opened up about feeling disappointed and humiliated as filmmakers were unwilling to cast her in films citing her being a TV actress.
Questioning the concept of a ‘fresh face’, Karisma revealed that she heard statements like ‘you are too tall’ and ‘your face is too exposed since you work for TV’ during the auditions of her film. She said that many people like to go with the herd mentality, like, ‘If he is a TV actor then don’t cast him, let’s get a new face’. Karishma felt humiliated every time that she could not get the role as she is a TV actress.
Talking about the rejections, Karisma said that she fails to understand why people try to categorize actors. Though he feels things are changing, it is still a struggle for a TV actor to get work in films.

He then listed the things he heard from producers while being rejected for film roles. She was told she was too tall, seen on TV every day, too attractive for the role so they couldn’t take her. He said that when filmmakers don’t want to cast you, they can give many reasons.
