Karishma Tanna’s scoop on redefining her life as an actor, ‘still very hungry as an artiste’

Karishma Tanna has been earning rave reviews for her character Jagriti Pathak from her recently released web series Scoop. Directed by Hansal Mehta, Scoop revolves around a crime reporter who is framed in the murder of a fellow journalist. The show has been well received by fans and critics. Karisma recently did a Dubai trip with her husband Varun Bangera. Within minutes of clearing passport control, Tanna found herself surrounded by smiling faces and friendly greetings from fellow travelers who had watched the series.

Sources close to his team revealed that the actor was walking towards the exit gate, and the crowd swelled. Karishma shared, “I was in shock! There were people all the way from Canada and the USA, and they told me they were watching the show. The next date I went on a dinner date, and people kept coming up to us with very kind compliments.”

Karishma underwent the toughest preparation of her life for the part. To sink her teeth into the character of an aspiring journalist who would go to any extent to get the scoop, she often visited police stations, shadowed crime reporters in newsrooms and spent time at press clubs in Mumbai . “Even though I work in a cut-throat entertainment industry, I’ve never been overly ambitious, so I couldn’t draw from any of my personal experiences. But, I did my best to make sure it was a job well done. I also had to be responsible as it is based on a true story and someone’s life.”

The sources also shared that she started getting calls from filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Mahesh Bhatt and Nikkhil Advani. Some of the accolades were, “Karisma Tanna – you are a revelation,” “This is Karishma Tanna 2.0,” “Phor dala hai,” “Where was this Karishma for so long?”
