Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, the two contenders for the post of Chief Minister, met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday evening.

The three-day-long tussle over the Chief Minister of Karnataka will end on the fourth day today. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will announce the name of the Chief Minister by calling a meeting of the Legislature Party in Bengaluru. Two names are in the race – Karnataka Pradesh Congress President DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Earlier it was discussed that DK-Siddha would be made CM for half-term, but both the leaders did not agree with the 50-50 formula. The news is that Siddaramaiah’s name is almost fixed for the post of Chief Minister of Karnataka. DK Shivakumar has been asked to wait till the Lok Sabha elections. Till then he will be made deputy CM or will be given two important ministries along with the state president.

Congress got 135 out of 224 seats in Saturday’s election results. In the Congress Legislature Party meeting held on Sunday, all the MLAs authorized Kharge to elect the leader. After this, the Congress President had asked the observers to have a one-to-one talk with all the MLAs.

On Tuesday evening, both the contenders for the post of CM DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at his house in Delhi. Kharge spoke to Rahul-Sonia about meeting both the leaders. Today he will go from Delhi to Bangalore.

DK Shivakumar arrived to meet Kharge at 5.30 pm on Tuesday. According to sources, he was called at 6.30, but he reached an hour earlier.
