Karnataka drawing teacher arrested for abetting suicide of student | Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: A teacher from a private school in Belthangady, Dakshina Kannada district, has been arrested for allegedly abetting suicide of a female student, said police on Tuesday.
The teacher sent a derogatory message about the student to one of her classmates, which led to her extreme action. The student, who hailed from Pijathadka in Dharmasthala, passed away in a Bengaluru hospital on Monday.She had been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru on February 7 and was later transferred to Victoria hospital in Bengaluru for advanced treatment.
The police took the drawing teacher into custody on Monday for his involvement in the suicide case. The girl’s humiliation caused by the teacher’s hurtful message is believed to have pushed her to take such a drastic step. The Dharmasthala police have filed a case and are currently investigating the matter.
