Karnataka Election 2023 LIVE: Bommai to again file nomination today, Nadda, Kichha to accompany; Congress ticket to Shettar

Chief Minister Bommai, who has already filed his election nomination on Sunday, will file his nomination again at the taluk office of Shiggaon in Haveri district in the presence of his star campaigners Sudeep and Nadda.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, CM Bommai confirmed that Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeepa would accompany him to file his nomination today and said, “There is huge support this time and I am confident of winning with the biggest majority this time.”

“Nothing has moved. Not even a small brick has changed. We are going to win all the three Hubli-Dharwad seats including Jagadish Shettar’s seat.

This is Nadda’s first visit to Karnataka after the party announced candidates for the assembly polls. During his visit, the BJP chief is scheduled to visit Hubballi and Shiggaon (Haveri) to attend several public programs and organizational meetings, including visiting some of the prominent mutts in Hubballi district.

According to an official statement from the BJP, Nadda will hold a mega roadshow from Santhe Maidan at Shiggaon in Haveri district to Taluk Stadium via old bus stand. After this, the BJP President will address a huge public meeting at Taluk Stadium in Shiggaon (Haveri district) in the afternoon. Nadda will also participate in the filing of nominations in Haveri district.

PM Modi, Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath will campaign in Karnataka

Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: Party sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to reach Udupi on May 4 to attend a convention of BJP workers. He said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also expected to accompany Modi.

BJP Udupi district president Kuiladi Suresh Nayak indicated that the Prime Minister would attend a convention of party workers ahead of the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka.

A huge ceremony will be held in the city or any other suitable place for the yatra. Sources said that the national leaders have informed the district party about this matter. PM Modi is expected to address at least 15-20 rallies ahead of the assembly elections in Karnataka.

Besides this, Home Minister Amit Shah is also scheduled to hold roadshows in Davanagere and Devanahalli on April 21 and 22 and attend several organizational meetings in Bengaluru as the BJP’s campaign to retain power in the state is on high speed.

Party sources said Shah will be in the state from April 20 to 23 and will leave for Telangana on the last day to attend political programs in Telangana’s Chevella Lok Sabha seat.

Shah’s roadshow is expected to give a boost to the party’s public relations in Karnataka. His multiple meetings with state party leaders spearheading the campaign are expected to fine-tune the poll strategy.

Congress has fielded former chief minister Shettar from Hubli-Dharwad Central

With only two days left to file nominations for the May 10 Assembly polls in Karnataka, the Congress on Tuesday announced its fourth list of seven candidates, confirming the ticket of former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who will join the BJP. Joined the party after leaving.

The Congress has fielded Shettar from his traditional Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency. The party also fielded Mohd Yusuf Savanur from Shiggaon Assembly seat, from where Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is the BJP candidate. Bommai also represents the Shiggaon constituency in the outgoing assembly.

The Congress has fielded HD Thammaiah from Chikmagalur assembly constituency. The seat is currently represented by BJP General Secretary CT Ravi.

The 67-year-old Shettar, a six-time MLA from Hubballi-Dharwad (Central), quit the BJP after being denied a party ticket. Later he joined the Congress.

The Congress has not yet announced candidates for the remaining eight seats. The party has so far announced its candidates for 216 of the 224 assembly constituencies in the state.

Assembly elections in Karnataka on May 10

The Karnataka assembly elections will be held in a single phase on May 10, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 13. The Congress is trying to oust the BJP from power in the southern state.
