Karnataka Election 2023 Updates: A total of 5,102 nomination papers were filed by over 3,600 candidates till Thursday for the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka. The process of filing nomination papers began on April 13 with the issue of the election notification. Of the total nominations, 3,327 were filed by 4,710 male candidates and 391 by 304 female candidates. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 24. Out of total 224 constituencies, 36 seats have been reserved for Scheduled Castes and 15 for Scheduled Tribes. The counting of votes is on May 13. The state has 5.24 crore voters and 58,282 polling stations. A nomination has been filed by a candidate of “other sex”. Meanwhile, with almost 3 weeks to go for voting in Karnataka, all political parties have stepped up their election campaign.
