‘BJP is instigating to use free electricity’

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is promoting the misuse and wasteful expenditure of the free electricity scheme up to 200 units.

“We are offering free electricity to help the poor and middle class people of the state who are in distress. We have allowed free power consumption of 10 per cent more than the average consumption in a year. It has been accepted and welcomed by the people of the state. But the BJP, which has been rejected by the people, is promoting misuse and wasteful expenditure of electricity.

The CM said that this is an anti-people step. We hope that the sensible people of the state will not bow down to this. The Congress party has announced to provide 200 units of free electricity to all households (griha jyoti) after coming to power in Karnataka.

Mysuru MP and BJP leader Pratap Simha had asked people not to pay electricity bills from June 1 if their consumption was less than 200 units.

If you consume less than 200 units of electricity from June 1, please don’t pay the bill. Siddaramaiah said it would be free for them as well. He’s not poor, that means it’s a free for all. From June 1, I will launch a protest in Mysuru and Kodagu regions,” Simha had said.

The BJP MP had announced that he would hold protests in the Mysuru-Kodagu region demanding the implementation of the free power scheme. He said that if the consumption is more then the first 200 units should be considered free and only the difference amount should be paid.

BJP opposes anti-cow slaughter law

The saffron party also opposes the alleged conspiracy of the Congress to repeal the anti-cow slaughter law. He alleged that the move to withdraw the Act was “anti-Hindu”.

Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Minister K Venkatesh on Saturday said farmers are facing a tough time in keeping old cattle and disposing of dead animals. The minister further questioned, “If one can slaughter a buffalo and a bull, what is wrong with slaughtering a cow?”
