Kerala: British surfer dies at Varkala Beach in Thiruvananthapuram | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old British citizen died while surfing at Varkala Beach in Thiruvananthapuram, police said on Friday. The deceased was identified as Roy John.
According to the police, the incident took place at Varkala Papanasam sea where John encountered strong surf conditions.
Details are awaited. Earlier, beach tourism activities were stopped in Kannur, Kerala, due to rough seas.The District Disaster Management Authority instructed a temporary ban on beach activities in various tourist centers in the district.
In a similar incident on March 9 in Varkala, 15 individuals, including women and children, were injured when a floating bridge railing collapsed due to strong waves, causing them to fall into the sea. They were promptly hospitalized.
