Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to evacuate Indians trapped in the floods. Civil conflict in Sudan,
In a letter to Mr. Modi, Mr. Vijayan said that many health professionals and skilled workers stranded in the African country were from Kerala.

Mr Vijayan said distressed citizens called the Kerala government for help and filed a petition. The conflict has cut off their access to potable water, electricity, food, medicines and other basic amenities.
Mr Vijayan said it was difficult to evacuate Indian nationals through Khartoum airport as the airstrikes had disabled the facility.
In addition, several Indians, including people from Kerala, were caught at their workplaces in remote areas in Sudan. Mr. Vijayan requested Mr. Modi to bring him back immediately.

He appreciated Shri Modi for the efforts made by the Union Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety of Indians in Sudan.
