Ludhiana: Police have arrested her 18-year-old boyfriend on charges of murder in connection with the discovery of the body of a class XI girl student. Three of his friends have also been arrested for helping them dispose of the body, the victim’s school bag and shoes.
Police claimed that the accused killed the victim because he suspected that she was having an affair with another youth. He also said that the killing was not premeditated.
The arrested accused have been identified as Prem PaswanHad a relationship with a 20-year-old laborer resident of Bhamian Kalan Anchal18 year old resident of Tajpur village.
His friends Ajit Kumar, Vikas Kumar and Neeraj Kumar, all Tajpur village residents and laborers, have also been arrested. The police have also recovered the motorcycle on which they took the girl’s body to the hideout.
Aanchal’s body was found wrapped in a blanket in an empty area of Bhamian on 15 December.
The post mortem report has confirmed death by strangulation. Aanchal’s father Ganga Charan, a street vendor, initially suspects her lover, Prince, of murdering her.

Aanchal had taken an auto rickshaw from Samrala Chowk to reach home. On December 14, when Aanchal took an auto from Samrala Chowk after school, Prem accompanied her. They got down at Bhamian Kalan bus stop and went to their rented accommodation. There an altercation took place between them, during which Prem strangled her to death. After this he left the house after locking it. He then informed his friends, who helped him dispose of the body.
Sidhu said that Ajit and Vikas took the body on their bike at around 3 am on December 15. Prem and Neeraj throw his school bag and shoes in another area.
Asked whether the murder was premeditated, CIA-II in-charge Inspector Beant Juneja said, “It was normal for Anchal and Prem to go to their rented accommodation. Prem said that he did not plan to kill her but found out that she was in a relationship with Prince. In the room, they argue about it and Prem refuses to continue the relationship. After an argument, Prem strangled him to death.
