Salman Khan returns to the big screen after a gap of four years with his action packed drama Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which releases today. Directed by Farhad Sanjhi, the film is based on Ajith’s 2014 film Veeram and features an ensemble cast including Venkatesh, Pooja Hegde, Bhumika Chawla, Shehnaaz Gill, Raghav Juyal, Palak Tiwari, Jassi Gill and Siddharth Nigam.

The film’s success at the box office is being keenly watched, given the recent history of formulaic films, with the exception of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan, in which Salman also made a cameo. Salman and Shah Rukh will also be seen together in Tiger 3. The film’s trailer gives a glimpse of the plot, in which Salman plays the elder brother of three siblings who are keen to get them married. The story takes an unexpected turn when Salman’s character falls in love with Bhagyalakshmi (played by Pooja Hegde), who is in danger from a notorious criminal. As the release of the film coincides with the Eid celebrations, trade experts predict that tomorrow will be its real test. But, for now, Twitter is buzzing with reviews. The film has received a largely positive response with some terming it as average. Take a look at some of the reviews:

Film trade analyst termed it as a “one time watchable movie”.

Riteish Deshmukh took to Twitter to give a positive response to the film. He wrote, “It will make you laugh, make you emotional but most importantly be prepared to whistle – because this is the quintessential Bhaijaan movie – action packed family drama…. #KKBKKJ @BeingSalmanKhan show all the way !!Climax has @VenkyMama 🔥🔥 @hegdepooja 👌🏽👌🏽 comic timing…”

Another user compared it to Salman’s blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya and wrote, “The first half is over – catchy and engrossing 🔥 Maine Pyar Kiya has a tadka which is highly entertaining 👍👍 Placement of the song is also good.”

Salman has traditionally been able to woo audiences to the theaters with his Eid releases, and it remains to be seen whether Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan will continue this trend.
