Knowledge Alone Not Enough, Skills Are Important, Says Aicte Chairman | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) chairman TG Sitharam said that knowledge alone doesn’t suffice but skills are important and India is focusing on the skill development of 500 million young people.
After inaugurating ‘Karnataka Geotechnical Fusion- 2023’, a national conference organised by the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering in the city on Saturday, he said “AICTE has a major role in making India No.1 in the world in terms of technical education. Technical education plays a major role in reflecting the country’s focus on becoming the world’s third largest economy. India comes under the top five countries in terms of research papers, number of PhDs and in patent filing,” he explained. Urging the people to upskill and re-skill to stay in the race, he asked the engineering students to stay focused on research and innovation in order to succeed in life.
“AICTE has taken a big step by providing knowledge in mother tongue in order to bring out talent from rural parts of India,” he explained. He also recalled the contribution of the Mysuru royal family and Sir M Visvesvaraya to the field of science and technology.
IGS president Anil Joseph asked students, who were from different parts of the state, to get more exposure in practical fields and asked young engineers from civil engineering backgrounds to remain in the core engineering sector, rather than looking for opportunities in IT companies and to learn Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to bring tech innovations in the civil engineering field.

Hry needs new engine, not double-engine: Hooda
