Varanasi: Wrestlers Sweety, Manju, Neetika and Tarun won gold medals on the second day of wrestling competition organized under the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) at the indoor hall of Ramesh Srinivasan Student Activity Center of IIT (BHU). in their respective weight classes on Sunday.
In the women’s 53 kg weight category, Guru Nanak Dev University’s wrestler Sweety surprised everyone by defeating SU’s Swati Sanjay Shinde, considered a strong player on points, in the title match. Swati had to be content with the silver medal, while the bronze medal in this weight category was won by SGSU’s Hina S Khalifa.
And in the women’s 59 kg weight category, Manju of Delhi University won gold. achieved this success by defeating Ankita Maharshi Dayanand University in the title match. Priyanka of BTU got bronze medal. In women’s 72 kg weight category, Manju of Guru Nanak Dev University won gold, Nikita of BPSMU won silver and Navita of Maharshi Dayanand University won bronze. In the same sequence, Delhi University’s Nikita won the gold medal in the women’s 62 kg weight category. He defeated Simran of GTU in the title match. Kajal of GKU won the bronze medal in this weight category.
In men’s Greco-Roman category, Tarun Garg of RTMNU won gold in 63kg while Ravi of GKU won silver and Rampravesh Yadav won gold. Daring Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University got bronze medal. In the 72 kg weight category, Sachin of GKU won the gold medal by defeating Deepak of YBNU in the final round. Mohit Dahiya of Maharishi Dayanand University won the bronze medal in this weight category.
Shivaya Mahadev Pujari of RCU won the gold medal in the 97 kg weight category of Greco-Roman. In the final, he defeated Sonu of Guru Nanak Dev University, while Pushkar Sehrawat of RTMNU got the bronze medal. In the 65 kg freestyle weight category, Ayush Kumar of Chaudhary Charan Singh University Meerut won gold, Naveen of GNDU won silver and Deepak Kumar of GGU won bronze.
In the freestyle 74 kg weight category, Deepak of GTU got gold, Deepak of KUK got silver and Manjunath of ASIU got bronze medal. In the 92 kg freestyle weight category, Mohd. Blessing KUK’s Gold, IGU’s Ankit Silver and MDU’s Ajay got Bronze.
