A couple from war-torn Ukraine held a symbolic wedding in the midst of an ongoing conflict with Russia that has claimed many lives and left Ukrainian cities in ashes. The pair exchanged vows, wearing military uniforms instead of white gowns and tuxes.
A video posted on Twitter showed the newlyweds leaving the church, cheering and smiling.

The video has been shared on the micro-blogging platform by Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“Ukrainian weddings these days. Not a white dress and a tuxedo, but lots of love and happiness,” the official said in his tweet.
In the video, the bride is seen wearing a veil over her camouflage dress, and the groom is also seen in uniform. As the music plays in the background and the guests applaud the happy couple, the husband picks up his bride and turns around.
The clip has garnered 2.8 million views and more than 18,000 users’ likes since it was posted on Monday.
Users have filled the comment section of the post with blessings and heartfelt comments.
“The most beautiful bridal couple I’ve ever seen,” wrote one user, “May they live long and prosper.”
On June 12, Ukraine defender Katerina and Vadim got married in Poltava, Ukraine, according to a post shared by Oleksandra Matvichuk, head of Ukraine’s Center for Civil Liberties. This marriage was fixed in a few hours.
He had congratulated the newlyweds and wished them many happiness together.
