Prayagraj: Akhlaq Ahmed, brother-in-law of jailed mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, has been arrested on charges of providing shelter and financial assistance to one of the attackers of Prayagraj. In 2006, when Atiq was being brought from Sabarmati to Prayagraj for hearing in a case related to the Umesh Pal kidnapping, Ayesha Noori was also seen in the convoy.
Last week, police found a car in the neighboring Kaushambi district which was allegedly used by the assailants after the shooting incident. Police said that Akhlaq and his family knew about this car and more things would be clear after detailed investigation.
