Leopard ‘Kills’ Time Sitting Amid Buffaloes in Rajkot | Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: Imagine the chaotic situation in the neighbourhood when you know that a leopard is trapped within the four walls of a buffalo pen! However, it turned out to be tame affair of ‘killing’ time literally, surrounded by the buffaloes till the foresters arrived to whisk it away, tranquillised.
The incident happened after the animal trespassed a buffalo stable on the outskirts of a farmer’s house in Khambha taluka of Amreli district early in the morning on Thursday.
The forest department was informed by farmer Kanti Korat of Mota Samadhiyala village about the leopard’s presence in his stable. Korat was milking the buffaloes when he spotted the animal and quickly came outside and locked the stable.
The leopard, in the meantime, made a few desperate attempts to hit the door and come out, but, thereafter, settled down in between the animals.
Meanwhile, news of the leopard spread like wildfire across the village.
Inquisitive people gathered in the terrace and nearby areas to capture the animal till a team of forest department along with veterinary doctor reached the spot. It took foresters four hours to tranquillise the leopard and rescue it from the human habitat.
Later, in a release the forest department said, “The leopard was safely reduced without hurting any life or property.”
