#Lohri2023 – Rajeev Thakur shares his fondest memory of the festival; Says, “Our focus used to be on collecting kites” – Exclusive – Times of India

The festival of Lohri is here with the warmth of a bonfire, the taste of popcorn and peanuts and songs like ‘Sunder Munderiye’. And on this special day, we reached out to Punjabi actor and comedian Rajeev Thakur to know his fondest Lohri memory. Trust us when we say that they shared with us the cutest stories from their childhood and the sweetest Lohri memory.
“There are so many memories. I am from Amritsar and Amritsar’s Lohri is very famous. Speakers are put up on the terrace till 6 in the morning and loud Punjabi songs are played. Interestingly, since every terrace party has a There used to be Punjabi songs on the deck and high volume, the person listening to it from the street would only hear the loud sound because so many songs were played simultaneously,” said Rajeev while exclusively speaking to ETimes.
“So from one end you will hear Hans Raj Hans, from the other end Sardool Sikandar, and somewhere you will hear Babbu Maan. And in the midst of all this, you hear ‘aai boo’ and what not from kite fliers.’
For those unaware, flying kites on Lohri is one of those traditions that bring immense happiness to the people. And reminiscing the childhood days when kites were flown on Lohri, Rajeev shared, “Since I was from a poor family, we used to decide that we would not fly kites, we would just snatch them. So our focus was on collecting kites and by the end of the day, all our friends would sit together and count.”
“Then the next day we used to fly kites, so our Lohri was celebrated a day after the actual festival,” concluded the actor.
