As per the announcement, Nakul Nath will contest from MP’s Chhindwara and Vaibhav Gehlot will fight from Rajasthan’s Jalore

The Congress on Tuesday announced a second list of 43 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls. The prominent names included in the list were of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Gaurav Gogoi; son of Ashok Gehlot, Vaibhav Gehlot and Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath.

As per the announcement, Nakul Nath will contest from MP’s Chhindwara and Vaibhav Gehlot will fight from Rajasthan’s Jalore. Meanwhile, Kamal Nath and Ashok Gehlot are likely to not contest the Lok Sabha elections.

MP Rahul Kaswan, who was denied a ticket by the BJP, has been fielded by Congress from Rajasthan’s Churu.

After joining the Congress, Kaswan — who was denied a ticket by the BJP to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, said he felt his “voice was not being heard” in the saffron party.

Kaswan’s name was cleared by the Congress’ central election committee as a candidate from the Churu Lok Sabha constituency, sources said.

The list also comprised names of three sitting MLAs, including Lalit Yadav from the Alwar Lok Sabha seat, Harish Meena from the Tonk Lok Sabha seat and Brijendra Ola from the Jhunjhunu Lok Sabha seat.

Among the new faces on the list are Karan Singh Uchiyarda, who is presently the party’s state general secretary, and Sanjana Jatav from Bharatpur. Lalit Yadav is the Congress’ sitting MLA from Mundawar, Harish Meena from Deoli-Uniara and Brijendra Ola from Jhunjhunu assembly seat

Earlier in the day, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba said the women’s wing of the party expects five out of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra to be allotted to women candidates by the party.

Lok Sabha elections are likely to be held in April-May this year. The Congress will be contesting the polls as a constituent of the INDIA bloc.
