Fresh low pressure in Odisha by end of month, says IMD
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low pressure system over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal on September 30, which could bring more rainfall to the state of Odisha. Several weather models indicate that the system may intensify. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have already experienced moderate rain, leading to waterlogging in some areas. The IMD has also issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for 20 districts on Sunday. The Hirakud reservoir has been releasing water into the Mahanadi river system for the past three days.
Light to moderate rain likely in Indore
Recent heavy rains in Indore have shifted the region from a rainfall deficit to an excess category. Indore district has received around 17 inches more rainfall than its average, totaling 50 inches so far. Only six districts in the state are yet to reach their average rainfall. Indore and Burhanpur have received the highest rainfall in the state, with over 50% excess. The Met department has forecast light to moderate rains in Indore and nearby districts.
