LSG vs MI: Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians by 5 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on 16 May. Defending a total of 177 on a red clay pitch in Lucknow, Krunal Pandyasucceeded in defending Rohit Sharmatowards the bay. The bowlers made a comeback for the home team with Mohsin Khan holding the back half of their defence. LSG have gained vital 2 points and have overtaken Mumbai to the third spot in the points table.

MI were taking the game away, especially with the starts that Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided. But after Ravi Bishnoi accounted for both the set batsmen, MI started to lose momentum. Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera battled in the middle and were dismissed in the middle. But Tim David’s 19-ball 32 gave Mumbai hope as Lucknow witnessed a huge thriller. He scored 19 runs in the second last over to bring the equation to the required 11 in the last over. But Mohsin Khan held his nerve in front of David and Cameron Green to take LSG home.

Earlier, LSG finished well Marcus StoinisAn innings of 89 took the home team to 177. Thanks to his fiery innings, LSG collected 54 runs in the last 3 overs. He dismissed Chris Jordan for 24 in the 18th over and scored 15–15 with Nicholas Pooran in the next two overs.

With this win, LSG have snatched the third spot on the points table from MI. LSG have 15 points from 13 matches, 1 point more than Mumbai in the same number of matches. Lucknow is tied on points with Chennai, but has a lower NRR. He has a chance to qualify in the top 2 as well. Meanwhile, it is not the end of the road for Mumbai as they are still in the mix for the playoffs.
