Magistrate booked in Rajasthan for asking gang rape survivor to strip | Jaipur News – Times of India

JAIPUR: An FIR has been registered against a magistrate in Rajasthan’s Hindaun city in Karauli district, for allegedly asking a dalit gang rape survivor to strip, on the pretext of examining her injuries. A case has been registered under various sections of IPC and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the accused, who has not been named in the FIR.
According to police, the 18-year-old survivor was gang raped on March 19. The family then approached court, and following its orders, a case was registered at Hindaun Sadar police station on March 27. It is alleged that the magistrate took this step ev-en after the police had taken the survivor for medical examination, following which she had appeared in the magistrate’s court to record her statement on March 30.
In the FIR registered on March 30, the survivor mentioned, “After recording my statement, the magistrate as-ked me to take off my clot-hes.” The survivor added, “He said, ‘I want to see the injury marks on your body.’ I replied: ‘You are a man. I would have shown if there was a female magistrate instead.’ Despite this, the magistrate said, ‘I want to see the injury marks on your body’.”
