Nana Patole also alleged that PM Modi ignored the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi during the Parliament session a day earlier.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Saturday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Parliament on Thursday (February 9) and questioned whether he was “Adani’s chowkidar”. He also said that the PM speaks as if he is standing on a “paan tapri”. Patole’s attack was in response to the PM’s 90-minute speech in response to the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament.

Patole also alleged that PM Modi ignored the questions raised by him Rahul Gandhi A day before when the Parliament session was going on. “All the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha were dropped. The PM spoke as if he was in ‘Paan Tapri’. He will have to answer whether you are Adani’s chowkidar or 140 crore people?”

“Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India. The money invested in LIC and SBI belongs to the people India And instead of protecting their interests, you are distributing their money among your friends,” Patole added.

During the PM’s speech in Parliament, he was seen thumping his chest amid slogans from the opposition chanting “Modi-Adani, Bhai-Bhai” in the Rajya Sabha. According to a PTI report, PM Modi declared that he lives for the country and wants to do something. For the country, which has shaken the opposition parties and they are playing political games just to save themselves.

Opposition members were demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the allegations leveled against the Adani group by the US-based Hindenburg Research firm during the Prime Minister’s address.

As soon as he got up to speak, opposition MPs, some holding placards, stormed the Well, raising slogans against the prime minister and demanding a JPC.

Hitting back, Modi said, “Jitna keechad uchaloge, kamal utna hi zyada khilega (the more dirt you fling, the bigger the kamal – the election symbol of BJP – will bloom).” Jis ke pass tha, usne diya uchal,” Modi quoted Manik Verma’s poem in response to the allegations opposition parties leveled on him and his government.

“The behavior and language of some people is disappointing not only for the House but for the country,” he said in an apparent reference to the allegations leveled against him by the opposition parties.

Congress members walked out, saying they wanted to seek an explanation from the Prime Minister, who left soon after his speech.
