At least 11 Shiv Sena MLAs are camping in a luxury hotel in Gujarat’s Surat district. The MLAs are being led by senior Shiv Sena leader and Urban Development Minister in Maharashtra government Eknath Shinde.
Meanwhile, heavy police force has been deployed at the luxury hotel at Magdalla crossroads in Surat where the MLAs are camping. The movement of unauthorized persons has been banned.
Sources related to developments in Gujarat BJP said that Shinde and other rebel leaders were in touch with Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil. After reaching Surat, the party of MLAs claimed to have met Patil.
Patil said, “I am in Gandhinagar. I have come to know that the MLA has come to Surat.” He declined to comment further on the issue for the time being.
Sources said that since Monday evening there were reports that Shinde has gone “missing” along with 21 MLAs.
Uddhav Thackeray calls emergency meeting
Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray has called an urgent meeting of Shiv Sena MLAs on Tuesday following suspicious cross-voting in Maharashtra MLC elections.
According to sources, all the MLAs have been strictly asked to be present in the meeting. Meanwhile, Bal Thackeray loyalist Eknath Shinde will address a press conference in Surat this afternoon.

In the House of 288, one seat is vacant due to the death of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke.
