Maharashtra: Yellow, red alert for Ghat sections of the district till July 22. Pune News – Times of India

Pune: India Meteorological Department (imd) has predicted light rain in the city while ghat areas of rural Pune will receive heavy rains till July 22.
Rain activities have reduced in the last few days. The sky remained cloudy throughout the day on Sunday. However, rainfall activity remained low, with Shivajinagar recording no rainfall and Lohegaon recording only 2 mm.
The weather officials have also issued yellow and red alerts for the Ghat section till July 20.
There is a yellow alert in Ghat areas on Monday but a red alert has been issued on Tuesday. There is a yellow alert in the areas again on 19 and 20 July. Heavy rain is expected at isolated places in this section on July 21 and 22, officials said.
Met department officials said that a circulation has persisted over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas. “The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards, potentially affecting the coastal areas. Formation of another circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal around July 18 will enhance Monsoon dynamics. Arab Strong westerly winds are blowing over Sagar, which is expected to play an important role in increasing rainfall in the coming days.”
The IMD recorded 131.5 mm of rain against Pune’s 245.6 mm. Officials said the district is rain deficient by about 34%.
He said that the rainfall activity in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada And Vidarbha The area remained calm on Sunday.
