The upcoming Malayalam film Kuruk is a crime thriller centered around a double murder of an IT couple in Kazhakootam, Kerala. Anil Anto, best known for his film Second Show, is playing the lead role.

As per reports, the shooting of Kuruk has started in Thiruvananthapuram. The film is written and directed by debutant Abhijeet Noorani. The film follows the story of a police officer as he attempts to solve the mystery behind the murder of Sneha and Rubin, an IT couple in Kerala. As per reports, the film is based on a real life double murder case.

Anil will play the lead role of Circle Inspector Sajan in the film. This will also be the directorial debut of Abhijeet, who has previously directed several short films on Youtube.

The main cast also includes Mahesh, Balaji Sharma, Bindu KS, Yamuna, Raaj Kumar, Preeta Pradeep, Mira Nair, Aseem Ibrahim, Sreejith Srikkanth, Subin Tarsan, Ajay Ghosh and Sandeep Sachu. The cinematography of the film is being done by Regis Santo while the music is given by Suresh Perinaud and others. The film is produced by Shaji Punalal under the banner of Nisha Productions.

Anil Anto, who is playing the lead role of CI Saajan, started his career as a junior artist in films like Vinodayatra, Saavar Thirumani and Raavanaprabhu. He graduated from Neo Film School in Kochi and appeared in several short films after completing an acting course at Neo Film School. One of these is Francis Joseph Zira’s short film Pillow Nothing But Life. It has received national and international acclaim and won several honours. Anil also received Best Actor award at Kalaburagi International Short Film Festival and Port Blair International Festival.

Debutant director Abhijeet worked as the primary assistant in Mohan Kupleri’s TV Parampara. Later, he produced several short films and web series for YouTube channels. He is currently working as a freelance director, producing videos for the Police Department and the Social Justice Department of the state.
