Tiruchy District Rural Police has arrested a youth for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
Police sources said 19-year-old P. Mukesh, a native of Taramangalam in Salem district, sexually assaulted the seven-year-old girl near Thiruverumbur. Based on her warning, the minor’s mother lodged a complaint at the All Women Police Station in Thiruverumbur.
On Sunday, the police arrested Mukesh under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He was sent to judicial custody at Tiruchi Central Jail, police said.
