Man Kills Live-in Partner Over Domestic Squabbles | Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: The domestic quarrels between live-in partners reached a flashpoint after the 35-year-old woman was allegedly smothered to death by the man with whom she had been living for the last two years.
The deceased Ila alias Kiran Solanki’s sister Poonam Makwana discovered the murder when she went to their house in Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) quarters on Raiya Road on Wednesday.
On Poonam’s complaint, the University police booked Kiran’s live-in partner Sanjay Bharathi, an ambulance driver, for murder and launched a hunt for him. Police said after Kiran’s husband died two years ago, she got acquainted with Bharathi during the Covid-19 period. She was working as a health worker during the pandemic. They fell in love and started living together. The woman’s 13-year-old son also lived with her.
Sources said cracks started appearing in their relations as Bharathi started suspecting her character. As he became more and more vocal, the fights became frequent. On Tuesday night, the couple fought over a petty issue of washing utensils.
Poonam stated in her complaint that she got anxious as several calls made to Kiran went unanswered. She went to her house but was surprised to see it was locked. She opened the lock and Kiran’s body in the bedroom.
Talking to reporters, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Radhika Bharai said, “Kiran was living with Bharathi with her 13-year-old son. It looks like he suffocated her to death with a pillow. Police said the deceased’s son was not present in the house as he had gone to his maternal grandmother’s house.
