The whole country is ashamed of the incident of women being paraded naked and gang-raped in Manipur. People are expressing anger over the incident and demanding strict punishment against the culprits. Now Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to the country’s President Draupadi Murmu regarding the Manipur incident. In this letter, Hemant Soren expressed his displeasure over the incident and appealed to the President to take steps to restore peace in Manipur.

What did Jharkhand CM write in the letter

In a letter sent on Saturday, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wrote that ‘the country cannot allow tribals to become victims of vandalism’. Silence is also a face of merciless crime. It is with a heavy heart that I write this regarding the ongoing violence in the state of Manipur. I am worried and stressed about the situation in Manipur and the sexual harassment and unspeakable torture meted out to women. Soren wrote that Manipur has been burning for the last two months. The video that has now come out shows the decline in democratic governance.

CM appeals for peace

Hemant Soren appealed to President Murmu to take immediate steps to restore peace in the state. Soren wrote that you are our last hope in this difficult time and only you can show us the way. Let us tell you that the fire of ethnic violence has been raging in Manipur since last May 3. There is a conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities here. Hundreds of people have lost their lives in this fight so far.
