Manish Sisodia’s name for the first time in CBI’s charge sheet: Three more accused in liquor policy case, hearing to be held on May 12

The CBI on Tuesday filed a charge sheet against former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the Rouse Avenue Court in the liquor policy case. Sisodia has been made an accused for the first time. Apart from Sisodia, the probe agency’s charge sheet also named Hyderabad-based CA Buchi Babu Gorantla, Arjun Pandey and Amandeep Singh Dhall as accused. The court will hear the charge sheet on May 12.

Buchi Babu Gorantla is the CA of Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kavitha. ED has also questioned Kavita in the matter.

In the charge sheet, the agency said that the larger conspiracy and role of other accused in the case is being probed. CBI filed the last charge sheet on November 25, 2022.

In its first charge sheet in the case, the CBI alleged that suspect Abhishek Boinapalli raised Rs 20-30 crore at the behest of the South Group. This money was given to Vijay Nair in cash between July and September 2021 through Dinesh Arora. It has also been alleged that Sisodia personally intervened in processing the application of Mahendru’s company Indo Spirit.

Former excise commissioner Arva Gopi Krishna has also been named as a suspect in the charge sheet. Two of the four accused, Manish Sisodia and Amandeep Dhall, are currently in judicial custody. Buchibabu has got bail on 6 March 2023 in this case. Arjun Pandey was never arrested.

Decision on Manish’s bail is to come on Wednesday
On April 26, a Delhi court is going to give its verdict on Sisodia’s bail plea in a case related to the liquor policy scam. Manish’s bail in the CBI case was rejected by the Special Judge on March 31, after which Manish filed a petition in the High Court.

On the other hand, Manish Sisodia’s wife Seema Sisodia’s health has deteriorated on Tuesday. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi. The team of doctors is checking his health.

Sisodia’s custody in jail has also been extended since February 26.
The custody of former Delhi Deputy CM Sisodia, who was arrested on February 26, has also been extended. On April 17, Special Judge MK Nagpal granted Sisodia custody to ED till April 27 and CBI custody till April 29. Significantly, the ED is probing the case of money laundering and CBI irregularities in the liquor policy case.

The court also sent two other accused, Arun Ramachandra Pillai and Amandeep Dhall, arrested in the case, to ED custody till April 29. Read full news…

Sisodia’s bail plea timeline in ED and CBI case

  • On March 31, in the CBI’s liquor policy scam case, his bail plea was rejected by Special Judge MK Nagpal in Delhi Court.
  • On April 5, the bail plea in the money laundering case was once again listed for hearing. In which Special Judge MK Nagpal fixed the date of April 12.
  • On April 5 itself, Manish Sisodia filed a bail plea in the Delhi High Court in the CBI’s liquor policy scam case.
  • During the hearing on the bail plea on April 6, Justice Dinesh Sharma of the Delhi High Court sought the CBI’s response. Hearing is to be held on this today.
  • On April 18, the Rouse Avenue Court had reserved the verdict on bail in the ED case, which would be pronounced on April 26 at 4 pm.
