Many vehicles burnt after explosion in Italy’s Milan, rescue work continues

A van carrying oxygen tanks exploded in the center of the Italian city of Milan on Thursday, prompting the evacuation of a nursery school and residential apartment buildings, Italian media reported. There is news of one person injured. Images on Sky TG24 show plumes of black smoke rising from a narrow street near Porta Romana in the center of Italy’s finance and fashion capital. News agency LaPresse reported that firefighters were responding to the flames, which spread to other vehicles and engulfed the front of one of the buildings. One person was reported to have difficulty breathing due to smoke. According to Skye, the children at the daycare were extracted without incident.
