Chatra: Chatra police received a shot in the arm in the fight against the Maoists following the surrenderof dreaded extremist and wanted zonal commander of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) Naveen Yadav. Carrying a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head, Naveen was active in areas of Latehar and Chatra districts. He was also active in the Burha Pahar area. The surrender is seen as a big jolt to the outfit, which is fighting to stay relevant, Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan said.TNN

Ahead of polls, Maoists kill BJP leader in Bastar

The Maoists had recently issued a threat to political workers and candidates in the area. Dubey’s murder comes just two days before the tribal Bastar goes to the polls. The BJP has vowed to avenge the killings and ensure law and order in the region.
