Ludhiana: A massive fire broke out in Delhi Lucky Towel House Feather Char Khamba Road Friday morning in Ludhiana.
Heavy smoke made it difficult for firefighters to douse the fire completely. For those working in the showroom, it was a child-girl. A sudden short circuit in the wires is said to be the reason behind the incident.
Soon the fire spread throughout the showroom. Firefighters were struggling to bring the situation under control as the movement of people and other shopkeepers interfered with the work.
Though police were deputed and they were seen pushing people away from the spot, the onlookers were still present near the showroom. Once the fire was brought under control but it again started spreading on the upper floor and black smoke spread all over the area. The goods kept in the showroom completely burnt down.
However, the nearby shopkeepers claimed that the fire brigade was not fully equipped, so the fire could not be brought under control in time. They didn’t have a hydraulic ladder to control things from outside.
Fire Officer Maninder Singh, however, said that the work is going on in full swing and they will bring it under control in the next few hours. He told that the entire showroom was burnt to ashes.
