Mcap of BSE-listed companies hits record high of Rs 297.94 lakh crore – Times of India

New Delhi: The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies hit a record high of Rs 297.94 lakh crore in early trade on Monday as the benchmark Sensex breached the 65,000-mark for the first time amid investor rally.
BSE The benchmark jumped 514.08 points to hit a record high of 65,232.64 in early trade. The benchmarks gained for the fourth consecutive trading session on Monday.
The market capitalization (mcap) of BSE-listed companies rose to Rs 2,97,94,780.47 crore in early trade on the back of continued rally in equities.
The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies touched an all-time high of Rs 296.48 lakh crore on Friday.
HDFC, HDFC Bank, UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries and Bajaj Finserv were among the major gainers in the Sensex pack.
power grid, MarutiLarsen and Toubro, Tech Mahindra, axis Bank, Hindustan Unilever And Asian Paints lagged behind.
In the Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were trading in the green.
On Friday, the US markets closed on a high note.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.08 per cent to USD 75.47 per barrel.
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought equities worth Rs 6,397.13 crore on Friday, according to exchange data.
FPIs have invested Rs 47,148 crore in Indian equities in June, the highest in 10 months.
The Finance Ministry on Saturday said GST collections crossed Rs 1.60 lakh crore for the fourth time since the introduction of the indirect tax regime, rising 12 per cent to over Rs 1.61 lakh crore in June.
The BSE benchmark on Friday closed at its lifetime high of 64,718.56, up 803.14 points or 1.26 per cent. The Nifty closed at a record high of 19,189.05, up 216.95 points or 1.14 per cent.
“With major benchmark indices hitting new highs last week, investors are expecting FIIs to continue to invest in Indian markets given the strong growth trajectory,” said Prashant.
