“The survival rate of last year’s plantation is more than 90%. This is because we have done massive tree plantation in parks and green areas where sufficient water is available. Apart from this, tree plantation was also done by the corporate companies under their CSR and they maintain their plants well. This year also we want to collaborate with corporate companies and RWAs. According to officials, plantation will be done as per the availability of space In existing green areas. Shrubs such as tecoma, bougainvillea and caliandra will be planted, while neem and other straight-growing trees will be chosen. Last year, 3.32 lakh saplings were planted by the civic body, of which the MCG planted 1.48 lakh and private companies planted 1.84 lakh.
