Mcg Starts 7-day Drive To Replace Manhole Covers | Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURGAON: MCG has started a campaign to replace damaged manhole covers across the city. On the first day of the drive on Monday, the civic body replaced 152 manhole covers. The campaign will continue till September 24. Residents can directly contact MCG for replacing manhole lids in their areas.
Officials said the areas where manhole covers are creating hurdles for the traffic will also be investigated. MCG commissioner PC Meena in a meeting held last week had announced that the corporation would run the special campaign for a week.
“Residents can reach out to us to replace manhole covers, if damaged, in their vicinity. Our teams are on the field replacing the covers. Citizens can call up our toll-free number so that we don’t miss any damaged manhole cover. This exercise is aimed at resolving all the complaints related to manhole covers. We are also looking at the areas where the concrete around manholes on the roads is damaged,” said MCG chief engineer Vishal Bansal.
Officials said several accidents have been due to open manholes across the city. The exercise will also ensure that all the manholes are covered. “Theft of manhole covers is also rampant in certain areas, which will be covered under this campaign,” an official said.
MCG teams on the ground have also been directed to share geo-tagged photos of the manhole covers they are replacing. A report will be prepared after the campaign concludes. “The replacement of damaged manhole covers isn’t limited to the campaign period. But MCG wants to get the maximum damaged covers replaced in this time period,” the official added.
